Oklahoma City Hosts National Christian Homeschool Basketball Championships March 10th – 15th

The 17 th Annual National Christian Homeschool Basketball Championships will be held in Oklahoma City, OK March 10 th – 15 th, 2008. The largest single city sports event in the country will bring 300 teams (boys and girls, ages 10 – 18), use 29 gyms, is expected to have 10,000 spectators/ participants, fill close to 11,000 hotel room nights, and generate more than $9 million for the local Oklahoma City economy.

The event has more than doubled in size since Oklahoma City began hosting the event in 2000. More than 300 teams from 30 states are expected to be represented.

“This is an incredible event and a great display of faith and sports,” said Director of Media & Marketing for LMP Publishing, which is working with the NCHBC. “The tournament always displays a high level of competition while also staying true to its core beliefs of family, faith and sportsmanship. It’s a great representation of Homeschool sports.”

“The National Christian Homeschool Basketball Championships is a major event for us,” said Roy H. Williams, CEO and President of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber. “We feel lucky to have hosted it for eight years now, and look forward to holding the event in Oklahoma City for many more.”

NCHBC games run throughout the week, with many broadcast live at www.homeschoolbasketball.com. The Boys and Girls Varsity Championships will be held on Saturday, March 15 th at the Sawyer Center on the campus of Southern Nazarene University.
