Whitney Williams, daughter of Gary and Patty Williams of Fort Worth, Texas, has signed to play basketball for Coach Bill Fennelly and the Iowa State Cyclones in the fall of 2008. www.cyclones.com

"Whitney can play either guard spot,” Coach Bill Fennelly said. “She understands the game very well and can impact the game in a variety of ways, whether it is her three-point shooting or her ball handling. Coming from Texas, she has played against great competition her whole life.”

Whitney, a 5-7 guard, plays for the Texas Home Educators Sports Association (THESA) of Fort Worth, which finished 38-12 last year under head coach Alan Burt. The THESA Riders ( www.thesaridersbball.com ) won the NCHBC 18U 6A Championship in Oklahoma City in March , 2007. Whitney was named the NCHBC tournament MVP.

Whitney has scored 3,450 points throughout her high school career, averaging 21.1 points per game and has made over 535 three pointers in her last four years of varsity play. She made 206 three-pointers as a junior at 48.7 percent. In the summer of 2007, Whitney played AAU basketball for Coach Kelly Morgan and Team Texas. Her trainer is Deon Hunter of www.hoophunter.com . Whitney has two younger sisters still being schooled at home and her older brother Abe plays college baseball at Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas.
